You can share individual photos from a patient’s gallery so the patient can see them when they sign in to the portal. Nothing is shared automatically — a photo only appears in a patient’s portal after you share it.

Share a photo

1

Open the gallery

Go to a patient’s Gallery (or open the Medical Attachments Gallery).
2

Open the photo menu

Hover over the photo and click the (three dots) in its top corner.
3

Choose Share to patient portal

A window opens with a Label box. The label is filled in with the photo’s name to start — you can edit it or clear it.
4

Share

Click Share. A Shared badge appears on the photo, and it shows up on the patient’s Photos page in the portal.

Change the label or stop sharing

Open the menu on a shared photo again and choose Patient portal sharing. From there you can:
  • Update the label the patient sees, or
  • Stop sharing, which removes the photo from the patient’s portal.
Only real images can be shared. The label is optional — leave it blank to show the photo with no caption. If you move a photo to a different patient, it stops being shared and you’ll need to share it again.

What the patient sees

Patients with sharing enabled see a Photos page in their portal listing the photos you’ve shared, each with its label and date. Tapping a photo opens a larger view.

Turn the Photos page on or off

The Photos page is on by default. To hide it for your whole clinic, go to Settings > Patient Portal > Configuration and turn off Show Photos. Turning it off hides the page for every patient, even if some photos are still marked as shared.
